Years of experience with theater, dance and yoga lead me to appreciate the benefits of receiving massage to restore my body and ground my energy. In college I studied acting and dance, while also becoming an activist for social issues. I earned my BA in Theater Arts with a Minor in Women's studies.
After graduating, I worked for 5 years at company that ran a popular Bay Area vegan restaurant chain. They are called Cafe Gratitude, and still thrive in the LA area. This company offered transformational workshops and daily practices free to the employees, so I heartily took advantage of the opportunity . There, I learned about the wellness lifestyle, engaged in personal growth work and spiritual discovery. The climax was training and certifying in coaching and leadership through their partner company.
During this transformational journey I felt the need to address more more deeply some lingering depression and eating-disorder issues that had surfaced while still in college. As empowering as the mindset work was, I knew a key for me in healing was embodiment as well. I discovered an intense and beautiful dance and art therapy program and completed the Level 1 training in Expressive Arts Therapy at the Tamalpa Institute.
Empowered by these experiences I moved on to explore hands-on healing work. I received certification at the Harbin School of Massage (which is closed due to a fire) and advanced training at the San Francisco School of Massage.
Since 2009, I have worked in both spa and private studio environments as well as traveled to homes, inns and offices. My most recent spa experience is the renowned Osmosis Day Spa in Freestone, CA. The establishment of my business in the beautiful Sebastopol location occurred in early 2015. Details on my current practice are in this site, under Massage.
Beginning in 2015, I became part of a dance troupe, training in a style called Shamanic Fusion Dance, pioneered by it's renown teacher, Anandha Ray. Through this training I was certified to teach two forms, known as Waking Dreams and Intuitive Technique. This focus on movement as a healing force is further described in the Dance section.
In 2016, my studies extended to a year-long training and initiation process to become Ordained as a Priestess of Isis. This was a culmination of many years of spiritual growth work, and also provides a blend of my dance path and spiritual path, as our troupe is now comprised of dancing priestesses. *Note: Isis refers to the Egyptian goddess and is unrelated to the militant group. This write-up by teacher and choreographer Rev. Priestess Anandha Ray gives a wonderful foundational description of how I hold my role.
This training and ordination expanded my abilities to be of service, and earned my standing as a legal clergy member. It is my passion to help guide others towards a more balanced and empowered life. See Coaching and Embodied Priestess Training sections of this site for more about these services.
As you may gather, some of my favorite themes are personal transformation, self-love & romantic love, spiritual connection, and being embodied. These are also expressed through being a poet & spoken-word artist. Visit my poetry blog here.
Though I love my work, I also love taking time away to play. Some of my favorite ways to play and relax are: hiking and nature time, dance & yoga time…and all kinds of activities with my hubby and toddler son.
